Launched yesterday at OSMPlus, OpenCage Data is a service that extracts data from OpenStreetMap, formats it in CSV, geoJSON and shapefiles and delivers it per your schedule (quarterly, monthly, weekly are standard, but you can customize as well). It's from Lokku Ltd, the company behind property search engine Nestoria.
Pricing depends on the size of the requested data along with frequency of delivery. Pricing starts at $50 per month and those joining now during the beta get extra discounts.
Will this be a money making operation? It really depends on how many users are still hosting their own OSM data or embedding them in delivered packaged products. My sense is more and more online map providers are tapping into services. still, Lokku has been working with OSM for some time and they clearly saw an opportunity here.
