Description
Where2.0Now? is a one day (10th November) conference hosted by the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) Northern Group (#AGI_NG) in partnership with the Centre for Spatial Analysis and Policy (CSAP) at the University of Leeds addressing the current big issue within the GI industry: neo geography and it’s impact in the work place. The packed day has speakers confirmed from Google, Microsoft, Ordnance Survey, 1Spatial, GeoVation, CloudMade and Yahoo!. Case studies of neo at work are given by Litchfield Council, Calderdale Council as well as examples from public participation exercises (Manchester University), transport (Ito World) and national archives (GeoThings/New York Public Library). We are especially pleased to be able to announce our key note speaker as Prof. Henk Scholten, CEO of Geodan and recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Jack Dangermond (ESRI President). Henk will be providing us with a longer term perspective on neo geography, and Web2.0 GIS tools and providing the perfect base from which to examine their impact on our daily work. ….If you’ve can’t describe what “Neo” Geography or “Web2.0” is, or decide if any of it is relevant to your work, then this is the event for you! The conference is being held at Bilton Court, home to Geoplan, in the wonderful spa town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. So why not make a trip of it and take advantage of our post conference networking drinks event? Places are strictly limited; early booking is recommended. Full conference details can be found on the AGI website (www.agi.org.uk/events) . Corporate sponsorship opportunities are still available (claire.huppertz@agi.org.uk) Information: The event is being organised under the banner of the Association for Geographic Information Northern Group and the Centre for Spatial Analysis and Policy (CSAP http://www.geog.leeds.ac.uk/research/csap/) by Rollo Home, as Chair of the Northern Group (www.linkedin.com/in/rollohome) and Prof. John Stillwell, CSAP Cluster Leader (http://www.geog.leeds.ac.uk/people/jstillwell.html).
