CommunityCartography has released a thin client geographic data viewer for the New York City Property Atlas and includes the following features:
- Created from the TatukGIS Developer Kernel toolkit (www.tatukgis.com)
- No purchase of ArcView, ArcMap or MapInfo required; It requires no royalty fees to be paid to vendors
- Speed and stability; direct access to MS ADO objects
- Uses industry standard shapefiles, *.dbf, and MS Access *.mdb files
- Locates properties by street address or tax block/lot
- Auto-zooms to tax parcels
- Full reporting of property RPAD data attributes
- Subway lines and ridership statistics included
- It is fast, reliable, stable, and poses minimal installation problems (no *.dll conflicts etc.) because it is a Delphi (not VB) executable
The
Property Atlas is an excellent solution for users who want to distribute
their NYC data to a wide community of users, without having to invest in
multiple licenses of full-scale GIS applications. You can leverage the
value of your GIS databases by deploying this thin-client application as
an enterprise viewer-solution. You can also install it as multiple stand-alone
seats, or access a central data-depot on a main server. It can be linked
to any SQL compliant relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL). Custom
features or databases can be added.
The property locator engine is ComCarto's proprietary SQL implementation of the New York City Dept. of City Planning GeoSupport system that NYC agency employees have used for many years. Now it is available for use, with mapping support, on a laptop computer.
Since 1999, ComCarto has been dedicated to bringing public data to the people that need it, and offering a superior combination of technology and value. ComCarto offers the full NYC tax base (930,000+ parcels) with the Atlas for $5550*. Volume discounts and annual updating agreements are also available. Additional data layers (landmarks, bus lines, political, census, etc.) available. Custom applications for other metro areas are available.
More information can be found at www.ComCarto.com
*Some map data (e.g. COGIS & NYCMap) available only by license from NYC DCP and NYC DoITT.
