Bmp2MIF is simple standalone windows program to read a UTM Mapinfo georegistered bitmap Image File and output either a simple CSV text file or a pair of Mapinfo MIF/MID files.
MIF format may have a map object for every pixel in the bitmap eg points or rectangles or it may be aggregated into outline vectors and Regions for each colour.
Conversion creates true polygons not raster stripes. Typical conversion time for a 1100 x 1100 raster is 4 secs. Requires Mapinfo Pro ver 4.5 or later.
- Select objects in Mapinfo acccording to the colour of the original raster map.
- Caculate proportions of each colour on a raster map from area of corresponding regions in Mapinfo
- Brute force raster re-projection: Raster to MIF, change Map projection in Mapinfo, use Win2TAB or similar to save as georeferenced Raster.
- Raster to vector conversion
- Convert bitmap to text file for further processing
