We are connected. We share a global economy. Through the Internet and other modern means of communication and travel, we converse, share ideas with--and become friends with--people everywhere, of all cultures.

The events of September 11 were, therefore, a misguided attack on the entire world. The need for recovery, healing, and understanding will be felt by people everywhere.

They help us see the scope of what happened. They help us better to appreciate the courage, excellence, hard work, and fortitude of the many who have responded and helped those in need.

We are deeply saddened and outraged by these terroristic acts. Our thoughts and sympathies remain with those who have been directly affected by them.
