Podcasts won't work for me
Dear Editors,

I appreciate your efforts to make getting news and stories in the geospatial industry to us geospatial professionals. I know I'm often pressed for time and keeping up on things outside of my "Padded Cell without a ceiling" (a.k.a. cubical ;-) can get difficult. My home life is just as busy, so I try to read any articles, such as those from DirectionsMag, at work during breaks or any spare moments I have.

I like the idea of being able to listen to the news, but it doesn't work for me for a few reasons. Firstly, we have restrictions placed on the network at work that prevents anyone from downloading several file types, including Podcasts. I would have to get special permissions from our IT Manager each time I wanted to get the news in the Podcast. I wouldn't be able to download it from home and listen to it because we don't have the internet at home, a decision I and my family made to force me to not take my work home with me (I have a problem with doing that some times). When the news and stories were in text, I sometimes save it or print it out to read and refer to later. O.K. this last one isn't really a reason why a Podcast wouldn't work, but a reason why having it in text does work....at least for me.

I don't want to impose too much, but would it still be possible to get the stories in a text email? It would make sure that I'd still get some news that's relevant to what I do for a living.

Regards,
Don Mitchell
