Title: San Francisco (Showing 100 Foot Rise in Sea Level)
Author: Glenn Nevill (gnevill@bechtel.com)
Products: Vertical Mapper, MapInfo Professional
Date: 26 July, 2000
Description:
Basically a training exercise, I used the Bay Area where I live and work, as a project for learning Vertical Mapper and the ins and outs of combining USGS DEMS and rendering them. The sea level rise of 100 feet while extreme, shows the incredible power inherent in a good map image, as well as the amount of ice that is contained in the polar caps. Sobering to think that the 7th floor office I am sitting in as I write this would be 10 feet underwater. Data: USGS 24,000 DEMs and DLGs Adobe Photoshop was also used in the preparation of these maps.
