United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation Announces 2005 University Scholarship Program Recipients

Recipients Honored at GEOINT 2005 Symposium SAN ANTONIO, November 2, 2005 - The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) formally recognized the recipients of its 2005 University Scholarship Program at the GEOINT 2005 Hall of Fame Dinner held last night in San Antonio, TX. This year the Foundation granted nine scholarships, four to PhD candidates, two to Masters-level students, and three to undergraduates, all of whom demonstrated academic and professional excellence in a field related to the geospatial intelligence tradecraft. "We've more than doubled the amount of scholarships we awarded this year over last," said K.Stuart Shea, chairman of the board of directors, USGIF."Our commitment to education will continue to grow in reflection of our members deep commitment to the future of our tradecraft." The 2005 USGIF University Scholarship Program recipients are: PhD Candidates Dan Goldberg University of Southern California Computer Science Miguel Roman III Boston University Geography ? Remote Sensing and GIS Xuan Shi West Virginia University GIS ? Semantic Web Services Anthony Robinson Pennsylvania State University Geography Masters Students Christopher Lippitt Clark University Geographic Information Science Nicholas Gazulis University of Southern California Geography Undergraduate Students Bradley DeBlois College of William and Mary Physics with Computer Science Minor Dwight Lanier Gainesville College Physical Geography Lisa Jane Musick Texas A&M University Geographic Information Science "We congratulate all nine of our 2005 Scholarship recipients and thank them for their discipline and commitment," said Shea."We look forward to benefiting from their continuing contributions to geospatial intelligence." In 2006, the Foundation plans to expand its University Scholarship Program to recognize qualified graduating high school seniors enrolled in or bound for college or university academic programs related to geospatial intelligence.
