Company: GeoTango International Corp.
Toronto, Ontario - November 15, 2005: GeoTango, a leading supplier of 3D building and visualization software, was selected by the Open GeoSpatial Consortium (OGC) as a participant to demonstrate its GlobeView software at the OGC Web Services-3 (OWS-3) technology demonstration held in Washington, D.C.on October 20-21, 2005. GlobeView is a groundbreaking solution for Internet-based 3D visualization of image and location-based information for anywhere on the planet. It delivers a rich and immersive 3D Digital Earth environment. In addition, GlobeView seamlessly integrates location based services, local search, driving directions, place finder, and proximity analyzer functionality into a single Digital Earth environment, allowing you to interact with vast amounts of business, cultural and environmental information. The purpose of the OGC demonstration was to highlight how the participants' software could effectively share information using OpenGIS specifications. The OWS-3 testbed is part of the OGC Interoperability Program, which is an essential element of the OGC process to develop and promote the use of OpenGIS specifications.OWS-3 extends the OGC technology in areas of sensor webs, common architecture, digital rights management and decision support. GeoTango demonstrated how GlobeView serves as a key decision support solution for OWS-3's wildfire management scenario. In the demonstration GlobeView was used to monitor and provide critical information on a forest fire scenario near San Diego.GlobeView displayed real time information from a host of sources including radar, weather and image data. GlobeView was employed to determine which satellites could be rapidly tasked to acquire new images of the wildfire.Once GlobeView secured an available sensor service it tasked the satellite to acquire the imagery, and streamed the data to decision makers through the GlobeView display.GlobeView was also used by other OGC participants to support sensor web capabilities. "GlobeView provides decision makers with essential information in real-time to allow them to make critical assessments and take appropriate action" says Mike Pastushak, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GeoTango."By fully supporting OpenGIS standards GlobeView ensures that the widest array of information can be quickly visualized and analyzed over the network." George Percivall, Executive Director, Interoperability Architecture, OGC expains that, "By following OpenGIS standards GlobeView is able to provide decision makers with the richest set of information from a variety of OGC complaint servers and sources."
