AirSage Awarded Wisconsin DOT Traffic Data Contract
April 26, 2007

Company: Airsage, Inc.
Industry: Transportation / Public Trans, Location-based Services (LBS), State Government
Location: Atlanta, GA, United States of America

Atlanta-based real-time traffic data provider offers real-time support

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) awarded AirSage, Inc., the leading provider of real-time traffic data, eighty per cent of a joint contract to provide travel information services along more than six hundred miles of Wisconsin highways and arterial roads.

WisDOT needed a cost-effective and non-traditional traffic detection solution to support monitoring along key intercity routes, enhancing traffic incident management, and assisting with corridor studies to better gauge transportation system reliability.

“Winning this contract reflects our ability to provide traffic data coverage and accuracy like no other in the industry,” said Tom Bouwer, vice president of sales and marketing for AirSage. “AirSage has a significant coverage advantage over fleet-based GPS solutions, which have fewer than 13,500 units from which to draw traffic data.”

Through its one-of-a-kind partnership with Sprint Nextel, AirSage’s X-10 solution is able to provide traffic information from anonymous cell phone signals from the estimated 768,000 Sprint Nextel subscribers in Wisconsin. The two-year WisDOT contract win represents the fifth market where AirSage technology has been successfully deployed to commercialize traffic information from cellular technology.

“Our extensive coverage brings additional advantages to this project,” added Bouwer. “AirSage data also provides for improved congestion detection, more timely updates and incident detection and more accurate speeds and travel times.”

Construction costs and long-term maintenance commitments make WisDOT’s continued use of traditional point-oriented detection devices ineffective and impractical over the long term. Because the state’s commerce relies heavily on the manufacturing sector, traffic delays can have significant impacts on business, in addition to being an inconvenience for the driving public.

AirSage’s technology was developed to mitigate these circumstances. Proprietary algorithms convert wireless signaling data into traffic information. The information is then processed through the AirSage X-10 server and transmitted to clients for use in traffic management and monitoring applications.

In addition, the ability to use special data sets for work zone management, fleet management, transportation planning and transportation security demonstrates the company’s value over other data aggregators.

About Airsage, Inc.
