How has your usage of Google Maps changed since Google changed its data source from a well-known vendor to itself?
I use it the same way as before.
I use it about the same, but now I report errors.
I use it less.
I use it more.

Manifold.net Announces Extended GIS Support Shipping Today for SQL Server 2008 Spatial Enhancements
November 12, 2007

Company: Manifold Net Ltd.
Location: Carson City, NV, United States of America

Carson City, NV-- Manifold.net, a worldwide GIS company with a focus on mainstream Microsoft markets today announced that the built-in Manifold support for SQL Server 2008 spatial capabilities which debuted in Manifold GIS products in August, 2008, will now be supported for the general public working with the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 November community technology preview (CTP), which provides spatial enhancements to SQL Server 2008. Until now, support for spatial enhancements was built into Manifold products for the benefit of developers with advanced access to SQL Server 2008 spatial capabilities. Manifold will now provide extensive public documentation on those features and will support them with Manifold developer technical support concurrent with Microsoft Corp.'s release of the SQL Server 2008 November CTP. Shipping today, Manifold delivers a fully-supported GIS tool with thousands of capabilities that work with SQL Server 2008 spatial enhancements "out of the box." Using Manifold to help utilize the spatial enhancements of SQL Server 2008 will help cut development time and will help enable rapid deployment of SQL Server 2008 spatial applications.

Spatial applications can be best comprehended and developed using a visual GUI. Manifold provides a vast set of desktop, enterprise, programmatic and web-based spatial capabilities within a single tool that allows people working with SQL Server 2008 to take a highly visual, intuitive approach to building their applications. This helps speed up development, lower costs and increase reliability.

Manifold's spatial support for SQL Server 2008 utilizes fourth-generation code written specifically to take advantage of the innovative ideas and phenomenal power of SQL Server 2008. Testing by users with advanced access to SQL Server 2008 spatial capabilities has resulted in thoroughly debugged, rock solid Manifold support for SQL Server 2008.

"Manifold has used our prior experience supporting many other spatial DBMS environments to create our best-ever spatial DBMS toolset for SQL Server 2008. Manifold provides SQL Server 2008 spatial users with an absolutely bulletproof toolset that manages spatial complexities, such as dealing with projections or dealing with legacy data. This lets SQL Server 2008 users focus on their own value added when building and deploying spatially-aware applications. Our focus on Microsoft also means Manifold support for SQL Server 2008 spatial enhancements works well with other key Microsoft technologies, from Microsoft Virtual Earth to Windows Vista x64, so SQL Server 2008 spatial developers can utilize those Microsoft technologies from within Manifold when creating location-aware applications." said Dimitri Rotow, Product Manager, Manifold.net. He continued, "Spatial capability within SQL Server 2008 is absolutely breakthrough technology. From day one, we've found SQL Server 2008 to be reliable, straightforward to work with and a best-of-breed spatial DBMS technology."

"Tools like Manifold make it easier for SQL Server 2008 developers to create applications utilizing location-based data and to migrate their spatial data from legacy storage into SQL Server 2008," said Kim Saunders, senior director of SQL Server marketing at Microsoft. "Manifold supports SQL Server 2008 spatial enhancements with a fully mature set of features enterprise customers need today, including native 64-bit code, support for multi-core / multi-processor hardware and immediate support for other Microsoft technologies."
