CubeWerx Selected By GeoConnections And The U.S. National Spatial Data Infrastructure Cooperative Agreement Program

GATINEAU, Quebec Canada -- CubeWerx, a leading provider of spatial data warehousing and OGC compliant Web services software products, today announces that it has been selected for delivering online data services for accessing Critical Infrastructure (CI) data. Under this project, data services compliant to OGC specifications will be implemented on each side of the U.S.-Canada border and provide on-line decision support capability for identifying CI data during emergencies. "At 5,500 miles, the United States and Canada share the world's longest common border and identifying critical infrastructures is a vital function for organizations in the cross-border region," said Jeff Harrison, president and CEO of The Carbon Project. This project brings together a collaborative group committed to joint U.S.-Canadian Spatial Data Infrastructure including:
Both CubeWerx and The Carbon Project are leaders on this project. The project team will deploy online mapping services as well as a Web feature services for accessing CI data based on the Open Geospatial Consortium Inc. (OGC) specifications. The new CI data services will be located in Montana and Quebec. The project will also initiate work that begins integrating critical infrastructure data models used by Montana with its National Infrastructure Data Models (NIDM), the Critical Infrastructure and Structures Data Model (CISDM) in Canada and the Department of Homeland Security Geospatial Data Model (DHS GDM). Cross-border users will be able to access the two data services across the U.S.-Canada border, navigate through its content, and identify/ access critical infrastructure data through CarbonArc PRO, an SDI interoperability extension for ESRI's ArcGIS from The Carbon Project and CubeWerx Web server products. GeoConnections is the Canadian organization coordinating the implementation of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) and the NSDI CAP is the program established by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) to help form partnerships to implement the NSDI in the U.S.
