2009 Estimates First to Fully Integrate 2006 Canadian Census
March 23, 2009 |
|
Company: Tetrad Computer Applications
Tetrad Computer Applications now offers demographic updates from Pitney Bowes MapInfo with data modeled on the complete 2006 Canadian census. Analysts can have the confidence that decisions made with current year estimates and 5-year or 10-year projections are modeled on the best data available, including 2005 household incomes. Key variables from the 2006 census have also been used in the construction of the following 2009 databases: Consumer Expenditure Potential, Food Expenditures, Daytime Population, and the PSYTE Advantage segmentation system. Due to the enormous amount of data to be collected and processed, the most recent census took over two years to be fully released in July 2008. As the launch of annual estimates and projections occurs in February, this is the first year the complete 2006 census can be factored into the data. Wilson Baker, President of Tetrad explains, “The 2009 data helps decision-makers act upon the changing demographic climate in Canada. The integration of the complete 2006 census into current year estimates gives the data much added accuracy. With Tetrad’s PCensus demographic analysis software, analysts have the ability to use this data to pick site locations, and better understand their market area.” 2009 Estimates and Projections have evolved in other ways as well. Household income categories now include ranges up to and over $200,000. In the 2006 census, the $100,000 and over upper limit range contained more than 50% of the population in some areas. These additional income ranges differentiate and locate the nation’s highest earners. In another added improvement, new MapInfo educational attainment variables include the level of post-secondary education, ranging from bachelor degree to doctorate. These variables have also shifted from the 20 year and over range of the 2008 estimates to 25 years and older. This change reflects the increased time Canadians are spending in post-secondary education. About Tetrad Computer Applications, Inc.
