ESRI Adopts DeLorme World Map as a Global Cartographic Standard

DeLorme showcased its World Base Map as a new Business Partner at the recent ESRI International User Conference in San Diego. ESRI and ESRI Business Partners will utilize the DeLorme World Base Map as a template for world topographic map generation. ESRI Endorsement “The DeLorme World Base Map is one of the world’s most accurate global topographic base maps, a very unique data set,” said Christophe Charpentier, ESRI Content Manager. “Choose any region of the world and get a uniform level of detailed quality data. ESRI has selected the DeLorme World Base Map for inclusion in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Data Appliance plus other ESRI products.” The DeLorme World Base Map is unique in that it is seamless and presented with a consistent richness of detail worldwide, with significant advantages in currency and positional accuracy. The scale is 1:250,000 worldwide, with horizontal accuracy of +/-50 meters. Abundant Detail Detail includes major transportation layers, inland and shoreline hydrography, agreed and disputed jurisdiction boundaries, and key geographic features. There is a complete global elevation model derived from multiple sources including raster maps and the Shuttle Radar Terrain Model (SRTM). DeLorme, with more than 30 years of experience creating vector and raster map data for its navigation and GIS software programs, now distributes both World and North America digital data sets for use in third-party software programs.
