Toulouse, France-- Emc3 introduces the Geoclip platform on its new website http://www.geoclip.net A simple and efficient solution for publishing interactive maps on the Internet, at last! Geoclip uses the Flash format to offer large-size maps that contain a wealth of statistical data and are quick to display, whatever the user's environment and browser. Three types of thematic analysis are available : graduated colours, proportional symbols and "hedgehog plot", as well as combined displays. Thanks to the expertise its designers have in statistics, Geoclip's default display mode is the best adapted to your data and will catch the user's eye like no other. However, all parameters remain accessible to the user. For example, bracket thresholds can be adjusted manually in a flash, directly on the histogram of the statistical distribution. If need be, Geoclip can seamlessly connect to any type of database. Using the mouse and rectangular or round selection tools, users determine the geographical area that they want to analyse in more detail. The application sends all the required queries transparently to the database in order to display, for example, a range of indicators calculated for the selected area. "Geoclip makes thematic cartography accessible to the general public : Flash is by far the most popular, most compact format, and the only way of displaying over 2,000 independent geographic objects on any type of computer," says Eric Mauviere, creator of Geoclip and co-founder of emc3 with Isabelle Coulomb. Any Internet user can test out the Geoclip interface on line, using their own data. Two specific Geoclips integrate data columns from a spreadsheet using a simple cut-and-paste operation : USA (states) and France (departments).Users will appreciate the intuitive navigation features allowing for entertaining tours of their area.A free Geoclip builder is also downloadable from www.geoclip.net.For the time being, it converts a MapInfo map and its corresponding statistical data into an independent cartography application. "Geoclip offers the richest functionalities on the web-mapping market by far. What is more, there is no need to download some obscure, 2 MB plug-in, which will only work with a few versions of certain browsers. If users want to customise their application's graphic standards, link their map to a powerful database, or customise the map's query features, they can call on emc3's custom design services and benefit from the experience of our statisticians," adds Eric Mauviere. In France, the Ministry of Health offers on-line maps of all existing hospitals and clinics, of their recruitment areas for different medical pathologies, and of all telemedicine networks.
