OSSIM and Active Archive were evaluated on 261 functions by 16 organizations from the U.S.intelligence community.From 17 finalists, 10 products were chosen for hands-on technical evaluations.The ImageLinks products ranked eighth in overall expert ratings and first in the mosaic-only category.OSSIM was the only Beta product.

Active Archive is an image product delivery system with an Internet browser-based user interface that accesses OSSIM software.Active Archive provides image mosaicking and custom processing, controlled through Web-based interfaces to OSSIM, and typically runs on multiple processor Beowulf clusters.The innovative approach enables rapid, powerful mosaicking and product-finishing capabilities.Active Archive's open-source methodology provides frequent software update potential.

Pathfinder evaluations provide a critical link between commercial/government technology developers and imagery/geospatial data users.The process identifies and assesses tools and technologies to support NIMA's mission to provide relevant/timely imagery, imagery intelligence and geospatial products/services to consumers.

Sixteen organizations participated in the evaluation: NIMA's Acquisition Implementation Exploitation Imagery Office, Imagery Exploitation Center and Persistent Surveillance Office; Office of Naval Intelligence; U.S.Marine Corps System Command and Intelligence Association; U.S.Special Operations Command, MacDill; U.S.Strategic Command; Lawrence Livermore Labs; U.S.Geological Survey; Department of Energy, Savannah River; Joint Forces Intelligence Center, Cruise Missile Support Activity; Central Intelligence Agency headquarters; Space Warfare Center; National Ground Intelligence Center/Imagery Assessment Directorate; and USA TEC.
