An Intermec portable RFID reader, the IP3, will read and re-write data on a smart label affixed to a pallet.Attendees then will be able to see the change in data on the tag as it passes through an RFID portal equipped with an Intermec fixed reader. Additionally, Intermec will establish the ease with which RFID capability can be given to an existing terminal through several different product combination possibilities. "Intermec's expertise in real-world RFID makes it an important partner for Oracle," said Bronwyn Hastings, vice president, Alliance & Channels, Oracle Corp."Together, we can provide joint customers solid RFID solutions running on a reliable infrastructure." Oracle and Intermec also have teamed up to bring a powerful field service application to market.Oracle Mobile Field Service is a part of the Oracle E-Business Suite and is designed to allow field service organizations to automate the process of dispatching field technicians to service calls in remote locations. With Oracle's Mobile Field Service for Pocket PC, customers will be able to maintain continuous connection over GPRS/GSM networks via Intermec 700 Series mobile computer, a Microsoft Pocket PC-based device.Oracle Mobile Field Service drives profitability by closing the information gap between the enterprise and the mobile field worker. "We look forward to demonstrating the results of our dynamic partnership at Oracle AppsWorld," said Scott Medford, Intermec vice president of global alliances."Attendees will be able to see the latest Oracle Mobile Field Service applications that enable the real-time enterprise, as well as the newest advancements in RFID technology -- both an integral part of the Oracle/Intermec relationship."
