February 17, 2004 06:00 AM US Eastern Timezone In-Building Navigation Now Available on the COMARCO Seven.Five Platform IRVINE, Calif.-- Seven.Five Navigator is the First Dual Calling Module Test System With Inertial Navigation on Board, Making This the Only Product Capable of Precision GPS-Like Measurements in Buildings and Urban Canyons. Seven.Five(TM) Navigator, from COMARCO (Nasdaq:CMRO) Wireless Test Solutions, is the industry's first dual calling-module system with inertial navigation built in, providing extremely accurate in-building wireless test. The Seven.Five Navigator is lightweight, portable and battery powered, making it perfectly suited for evaluating network performance in-building or where pedestrian use is predominant. The Navigator provides a new level of QoS measurement in any location where cellular and Internet access is important, even if GPS positioning cannot be used. The navigation system uses a combination of silicon gyroscopes and accelerometers to measure the operator's stride, which determines the velocity vector. The axial rotation is also measured to determine the directional vector. The system automatically plots all cellular parameters with no need for operator intervention to identify his/her location. The Seven.Five Navigator calling modules are powered by dedicated single-board computers running Windows XP, along with proprietary voice and video Quality of Service (QoS) algorithms, making this the only product capable of precision measurements from the perspective of the wireless subscriber. As with all members of the Seven.Five family, Navigator provides root-cause voice data for problems encountered while emulating the wireless subscribers. Launched by COMARCO, Inc.through its Wireless Test Solutions (WTS) group, in partnership with SwissQual AG of Zuchwil, Switzerland, Seven.Five Navigator will be used by infrastructure providers and cellular carriers worldwide, speeding network deployment and optimization, as well as benchmarking of the wireless infrastructure. Rich Set of Real-time Monitors
"We built inertial navigation into the Seven.Five Navigator because the cellular carriers need a simple way of evaluating QoS in areas where GPS signals are not available," says Greg Maton, senior vice president of COMARCO."This unique system can be used in or between large buildings using inertial navigation, and also in drive-test applications, using its built-in GPS positioning. We now have a system that can work in any environment as well as with any generation of wireless technology." The Seven.Five Navigator includes the Seven.Five Multi-Band, Multi-Technology RF Scanner: the most advanced and accurate scanner for field-test applications. It is capable of lightning-fast scans (over 3000 channels per second) in multiple frequency bands, with multiple technologies, doing DVCC, BSIC and PN decoding simultaneously. The scanner offers full baseband decoding for UMTS, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, EDGE, IS-136, CDMA2000 and WCDMA. Pricing for Seven.Five Navigator starts at around $20,000(US).Availability is six to eight weeks from receipt of order. About COMARCO
