New Red Light Cameras Web Site Launches Using Google Maps
August 25, 2006 |
|
Company: PhotoEnforced.com
Press Release - August 26, 2006 “PhotoEnforced.com”, has launched red light cameras maps in 15 metropolitan areas in the United States. These maps are now available at PhotoEnforced.com for the following metro areas: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Orange County, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Francisco and Washington DC. Says Jeff Cohn, PhotoEnforced.com Founder: “City councils all across the United States are “green lighting” the installation of red light cameras to curb reckless driving while at the same time add a potentially large revenue source to the city’s bottom line. Currently, there are approximately two thousand photo enforced locations in operation around the United States today and the number is projected to grow at a rate of 25% per year. Many photo enforced locations are unpublished and drivers are often surprised when a camera flashes in their eyes and a hefty ticket arrives in the mail from $50 to $375. As a result some photo enforced intersections have become safety hazards and innocent drivers have become victims of fender benders. Published studies indicate that some people tend to drive erratically through these intersections by speeding up or braking suddenly to avoid getting a photo enforced ticket. There are also wide disparities on how cities implement the length of yellow lights to manage the profitability of each camera location. Therefore, we believe that being aware of photo enforced intersections ahead of time is now the only way to drive.” PhotoEnforced.com aims to further establish an open forum for drivers and GPS navigation enthusiasts to collaborate on red light camera locations around the U.S. Creating a centralized database for red light cameras has enabled us to provide location based information to navigation systems manufacturers, software Internet portals, governmental entities and digital mapping companies for next generation products. About www.PhotoEnforced.com PhotoEnforced.com is an open database of red light camera and speed camera locations. The database consists of regional Google maps and fines of almost 2000+ across the U.S. There are many differences in automated enforcement laws in each state and most locations are unpublished. It is our mission to locate and map photo enforcement areas and applicable fines. Jeff Cohn (jeff@photoenforced.com) |
