15th GSDI World Conference call for abstracts deadline extended to 1 June

Plans are rapidly taking shape for the 15th Global Spatial Data Infrastructure World Conference (GSDI 15). With the Abstract submission deadline extended to 1 June 2016, don’t miss your chance to participate!

GSDI appreciates it is a busy time of the year for professional staff and academics alike, so the conference program committee is maximizing the submission and review period. Kindly note that oral presentations are possible based on acceptance of extended Abstracts alone, if authors do not wish to submit full Papers. Also, authors can elect to have submitted Papers fully peer-reviewed or not, as they wish. And keep in mind that Poster submissions are also permitted and very welcome! Submissions can cover the full range of practice, development, and research experiences that advance the objective of spatially enabling citizens, government, and industry in the areas of Smart City, Smart Transportation, and Smart Disaster Prevention. The Conference will showcase strategies, policies, best-practices, and innovations that are driving collaboration and interoperability with respect to spatial data collection, access, visualization, and analysis for “Spatial Enablement in the Smart Homeland”.

GSDI 15 (http://gsdi15.org.tw/) is being held in Taipei, Taiwan (Republic of China) from 28 Nov. to 2 Dec.2016, under the theme “Spatial Enablement in the Smart Homeland”. The Conference is being jointly hosted by GSDI and its Taiwan-based members, the Taiwan Association of Disaster Prevention Industry (TADPI) and the Taiwan Geographic Information System Center (TGIC), with strong support from Ministry of the Interior (MOI), Government of Taiwan.

GSDI would like to see as many of you as possible at the conference; the program for the week already has a dynamic lineup of keynote speakers. Mark Reichardt, President of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Barbara Ryan, Secretariat Director of the Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO), Ed Parsons, the Geospatial Technologist of Google, and Greg Scott, the Inter-Regional Advisor on Global Geospatial Information Mgt in the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) can be counted on to deliver thought-provoking talks on the status and future of spatial data infrastructure and how and why it matters.

The deadline for the submission of Workshop proposals also is open, and the deadline for submission of full Papers (both peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed) and Posters is 1 July 2016.
