Abstracts Invited for GIS in Transit Conference
The National Center for Transit Research, Urban and Regional Information Systems Association and the Transportation Research Board are jointly sponsoring the 10th National GIS in Transit Conference, September 6-8, 2017, in Washington, DC.
Martin Catala, Director Advanced Geo-Spatial & Informatics Lab, at the Center for Urban Transportation Research encourages transit and GIS professionals to share their research, projects and ideas with this informed audience. "The 10th Transit GIS Conference serves as a vital opportunity for transit agencies of all levels to learn fundamentals of GIS as well as discover cutting edge applications. This conference attracts experts from across North America to discuss how GIS is being used everyday to improve transit systems. The conference will provide a breadth of GIS experiences to showcase how agencies of all sizes and budgets are managing GIS data and improving transit service, and ultimately customer service.

The National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) is located at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida. NCTR strives to make public transportation and alternative forms of transportation, including managed lanes, safe, effective, efficient, desirable and secure. The goals of NCTR are: to minimize traffic congestion, maximize mobility options, promote safety and security, improve the environment, and enhance community sustainability. This will be accomplished by conducting applied and advanced research, energetically disseminating the results, and expanding the workforce of transportation professionals through education and training to address the challenges and opportunities of the future. The Mission of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) is to promote innovation and progress in transportation through research. In an objective and interdisciplinary setting, TRB facilitates the sharing of information on transportation practive and policy by researchers and practitioners: stimulates research and offers research management services that promote technical excellence; provide expert advice on transportation policy and programs; and disseminates research broadly and encouraged their implementation.
