Optech Incorporated | Vaughan, Ontario

Toronto, Canada, October 29, 2012 — Optech, the world leader in the development, manufacture and support of advanced lidar and camera survey instruments, is pleased to announce the delivery of an upgraded Orion H300 high-altitude lidar mapping system to Aerial Surveys International, LLC, of Watkins, CO, USA. Optech had earlier delivered an Orion M300 mid-altitude system.

The Optech Orion H300 upgrade enhances the survey portfolio of Aerial Surveys International, LLC by extending their existing capabilities in altitude without significantly sacrificing data density. With real-time point display and a maximum effective ground sampling rate of up to 300 kHz—and ground sample rates of over 100 kHz even at altitudes above 4,000 m AGL (>13,000 feet AGL)—the Orion H300 delivers high-density point cloud data with industry-leading precision and accuracy.

"After carefully evaluating and comparing various sensors and combinations, we decided that Optech has the best overall integration of lidar, camera and software in a turnkey system," said Mark Shubert and Ron Macke, Co-Owners of Aerial Surveys International, LLC, when they purchased the Orion. "We are really excited about the position this acquisition puts us in. We will have the ability to economically provide best-of-class of lidar and concurrent imagery data to a broad range of clients with myriad applications."

Maxime Elbaz, President of Optech, Inc., is enthusiastic. "This upgrade confirms our commitment to the Optech Orion as a single platform for a range of lidar and camera applications. We are happy to work with our customers to broaden their capabilities and take full advantage of our latest product offerings. Our approach of tightly integrating the Orion H300, a compact lidar mapper, with Optech’s medium format camera in a single multi-station mount will enable Aerial Surveys International, LLC to develop the right system to establish themselves as the leading strategic business partner to the geospatial industry, in a challenging business environment."
