New Street-Level Map Data Available for Europe, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand

- ALK Technologies, Inc., a global leader in GeoLogistics™ and navigation software today announced the availability of PC*MILER|Worldwide 26.1, generating truck-specific routes, distances, transit times, maps, and driving directions over the entire international routing network across 227 countries. New street-level map data is now available for Europe, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand. Worldwide data coverage includes North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

ALK's proprietary routing and map data have been relied upon by the United States Department of Defense as their official worldwide distance standard for more than a decade. The distances are compliant with the latest version of the Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD) used by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the General Services Administration (GSA) for approved freight rating and billing.

PC*MILER|Worldwide 26.1 offers new street-level data add-ons for Europe, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand as well as updated streets data in the United States and Canada. Improved routing and map data for over 70 countries is also included with significant coverage in Africa (including Egypt, Morocco), Asia (including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates) and Europe (including Russia). In numerous regions outside of North America, NAVTEQ digital map data has been seamlessly integrated with ALK's proprietary routing network to create the most dynamic solution available.

PC*MILER|Worldwide interfaces with all leading transportation, logistics and fleet management systems. One of ALK's strategic partners, MercuryGate International, delivers worldwide solutions for shippers, carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and third party logistics providers to plan, optimize and execute global transportation movements with complete end-to-end shipment visibility.

"As MercuryGate continues to acquire customers outside the North American market, it is important we have the best routing tools available," said Doug Surrett, Vice President of Global Logistics for MercuryGate. "ALK Technologies, our long-term partner, provides us with seamless access to global routing and map data, enabling us to provide the best possible solutions for our clients."

Additional data features include truck-specific routing attributes with a targeted focus on metro areas, reclassified vertical clearance data to accurately model low viaducts, newly built roads, updated street/highway names, and realignment of the existing road network to GPS standards. Other enhanced data and features include time zone and Universal Time Code (UTC ) offset for every location, as well as updated exit interchanges and aligned ramp structures.
