Avineon, Inc. (Avineon), a global provider of information technology, geospatial, and engineering support services, is pleased to announce three members of its professional staff have earned new certifications. Vice President Joel Campbell and Business Development Manager Drew Meren have each received their GIS Professional (GISP) certifications, and Rick Jahoda, Project Coordinator, has been certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP).

“Avineon is committed to the continuing education and professional development of everyone on our team,” said Heesun Robertson, Chief Operating Officer. “We congratulate Joel, Drew, and Rick on the time and effort they put into earning their respective certifications.”

The GISP is an important designation in the geospatial field awarded by the GIS Certification Institute. Certification holders have demonstrated their proficiencies through education, work experience, and contributions to the geospatial profession. Joel Campbell and Drew Meren received their GISP certifications in early 2015.

As Vice President of Commercial Systems, Joel Campbell is responsible for all services provided to commercial and state/local government customers, including geospatial, engineering support, and IT services. Joel has more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of business development and executive management in the geospatial industry. He has served as president and CEO of a global provider of remote sensing software, U.S. sales director for a major GIS software provider, and other senior management positions within the industry.

Drew Meren is responsible for expanding Avineon’s geospatial data services in commercial and state/local government markets. An experienced geospatial business development manager, account manager, delivery support manager, management consultant, and software product advisor, Drew has over 15 years of experience leading and advising municipal government agencies across the country in landbase development, remote sensing, data conversion, and migration services. He specializes in the implementation of best business processes, GIS technology, and other software within the government, commercial, and publication markets.

The PMP certification earned by Rick Jahoda is awarded by the Project Management Institute and is globally demanded in a multitude of industries. PMP recognizes education, experience, and demonstrated competence in leading and directing project teams.

Rick Jahoda, Project Coordinator, has over 25 years of experience in the GIS industry, specializing in utility data conversion. He is highly instrumental in the creation, conversion, and maintenance of data for electric, gas, water, and sewer utilities; municipalities and government agencies; and private sector companies. Rick has been involved in all phases of project execution and supervision of Avineon’s GIS activities.
