- Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) today announced the list of cities for its public training classes for 2016. Covering all aspects of both the Geographic Calculator and Global Mapper, these hands-on instructor-led programs have proven to be an indispensable asset for countless users hoping to get the most out of the software. Blue Marble’s training curriculum effectively introduces novice users to the fundamentals of GIS and spatial data processing while concurrently challenging experienced GIS professionals to improve workflow and productivity through the use of Blue Marble technology.

Blue Marble's geospatial data manipulation, visualization, and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, energy, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as government agencies and academic institutions.

The list of planned training locations for 2016 includes, Las Vegas, NV, scheduled for the week of February 22; Munich, Germany during the week of April 18; Vancouver, BC in early May; London, UK during the week of May 25; Montreal, QC in June; St Louis, MO in September; and Raleigh, NC in December. Additional dates and locations may be added to meet the demand for training in a particular geographic area.

The Global Mapper public training course consists of three days of hands-on instruction resulting in successful attendees being recognized as Certified Global Mapper users. Day one introduces the basic functions of the software and, depending on available space, may be attended as a standalone class at no cost. Day two covers more advanced data processing techniques and procedures, and day three includes all of Global Mapper’s 3D, terrain analysis, and LiDAR processing capabilities.

The one-day Geographic Calculator class introduces the core concepts in geodesy and offers a series of practical workflows demonstrating the features and functions of the software.

As well as offering public classes, Blue Marble Applications Specialists are available to deliver company- or organization-specific training programs. With a customized curriculum and flexible schedule, these classes can be conducted onsite or online.

“Successful implementation is an essential element of any technical investment.” stated Patrick Cunningham, Blue Marble President. “While every effort is made to design Geographic Calculator and Global Mapper as intuitively as possible, there is no substitute for a well-structured training class. Countless users have cited the three days spent in training as the reason they have been able to rapidly improve performance and productivity.”

Registration is currently open for the Las Vegas and Munich training classes and will be announced for the remaining sessions shortly.
