Hallowell, Maine – November 5th, 2012 - Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to release a GIGS Gold Compliant version of the GeoCalc software developer toolkit, version 6.6, based on the guidelines recently released by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers Geomatics Committee requirements. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and academic institutions.

Blue Marble is known for their cutting edge data processing software and solutions. As a major contributor to the Geospatial Integrity of Geoscience Software (GIGS) evaluation process since 2006, Blue Marble’s Geographic Calculator and GeoCalc SDK were selected for use as a key tool for the development of GIGS coordinate transformation best practices guidelines. Blue Marble has provided feedback and testing for this process on an on-going basis, and is pleased to reach the first step of completing this process with certification of its GeoCalc SDK, also the underlying library used by the Geographic Calculator.

GeoCalc 6.6 is a fully object-oriented class library and coordinate object data source for software developers, which provides coordinate transformation capabilities in many well-known interpretation packages used by the Oil and Gas industry. In addition to being GIGS Gold Compliant, GeoCalc now provides support for automatic downloading of horizontal and vertical grid shift files, a datum shift generation tool, direct coordinate transforms, support for the new INdicio 2.2.1 for the web hosted version of the EPSG database, the New Zealand Vertical Datum 2009 as well as other vertical reference updates and more. All of this functionality can be leveraged through Blue Marble’s popular OEM partner network program.

"We are pleased to release our GIGS Gold Compliant version of GeoCalc," stated Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. "With the completion of this work we look forward to adding this to the next release of the Geographic Calculator and assisting our OEM customers with embedding this new version into their commercial products. This version of GeoCalc really leverages the power and expertise of some of the world’s leading geodesists and we are pleased to be able to pass these enhancements on to our global user community."
