Cartifact is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Denver, Colorado.  Mark Vahrenwald, Cartifact's VP of Operations and GIS, has relocated to the area from the company headquarters in Los Angeles in order to better interface with the large network of geospatial industries located along the Front Range.

Increasingly Cartifact is integrating imagery and mapping application development into its client work and internal products.  While the resources of the geospatial and location industry are an important component in Cartifact’s future, this new office also offers Cartifact’s high-end cartographic work to leading firms who need mapping services and platforms to match their own quality products.

Vahrenwald can be still reached through Cartifact’s central number: (213) 327-0200, ext. 304 or via email: mvahrenwald@cartifact.com

In concert with Cartifact’s expanded geographic presence, Cartifact recently announced its first Map Innovation Award with a $10,000 top prize in order to foster innovative development and to signify its increased role within the community of mapmakers and developers.

More information about the award is available online at www.cartifact.com/innovationaward.  Judges for this year's award  are Brady Forrest, Where Conference Chair; Charlie Frye, Chief Cartographer at Esri; Tom Patterson, Senior Cartographer for the National Park Service; Artem Pavlenko, creator of Mapnik; David Rumsey, map collector and display technologist; Denis Wood, author, curator of The Power of Maps; and Cartifact Founder Graham Marriott.
