City of Richmond, VA Selects EnerGov 9 Enterprise Solution

EnerGov signs $1.63M contract with State Capital to Enhance Economic Vitality and Citizen Services

The city of Richmond, the state capital of Virginia and home to over 200,000 residents, has selected the EnerGov 9 platform to consolidate and replace its legacy systems in a number of departments and location-based regulatory processes across the agency’s enterprise. By increasing the efficiencies with these regulatory processes, the city is looking to improve constituent services and become more business-friendly in an effort to enhance the overall economic vitally of the region.

The city will replace a variety of disparate, antiquated systems that were not scalable and lacked the proper functionality and citizen extended functions to handle the growing number of permitting, inspections, development review, citizen request, enforcement and other business needs. With the new, web-based enterprise platform, many of the city’s critical business processes will be centrally managed, automated and extended to the appropriate personnel across multiple departments as well as the constituency served.

“Working with multiple systems was proving to be impractical and expensive,” said Mark Flanary, representative for the city. “We wanted to centralize our permitting and land management processes into one leading platform that could tightly integrate our GIS, automate reporting and business process, provide an easy to use experience, and most importantly, a system that could scale and grow as our needs evolve. After an exhaustive review process, EnerGov stood out as the most comprehensive, had the most impressive user experience and provided the most overall value.”

The city will also be implementing an efficient and paperless review process with EnerGov’s eReviews 2.0.  The native enterprise electronic plans review technology is integrated within the business environment and will help the city significantly cut down on the review process time as automated and streamlined process workflows are introduced.  Furthermore, EnerGov will implement mobile solutions that will assist in aiding the city’s workforce to be more efficient.

Constituents will also benefit as the city will deploy citizen access web services that will allow permits, inspections and citizen requests to be managed and submitted online.  With anytime, anywhere access, these services can be used conveniently from home or office —saving citizens and businesses gas, time, and mileage without the need to visit City Hall.

“Richmond has been enjoying a boom in new residential development in the past few years and the city has made a commitment to invest in new services to support the vitality of the region,” said Garth Magness,Vice President and Regional Business Development Manager for EnerGov Solutions. “We are excited to partner with the city to support its growing economy and housing market by expediting the processing of permits, inspections, and other community development activities that have been increasing there.”

The $1.63M contract includes software rollout for over 100 users, professional services, training and a term support agreement.
