City of Tempe, Arizona Water Department Chooses Marshall GeoResults Mobile

Thursday, June 22nd 2006

Olympia, WA – June 22, 2006 The City of Tempe, Arizona, Water Utilities Department knew that by upgrading its technology and processes, it could improve customer service, data management, and work order processing while reducing paper and saving taxpayer time and money. To solve these challenges, Tempe chose Marshall’s new GeoResults Mobile solution. GeoResults Mobile is integrated with ESRI map data and Hansen asset/work order management systems on a tablet PC. It provides field utility workers with current map-based data, asset locations, feature attributes, work order processing and other enterprise business information wherever they are located in the City. This solution utilizes Tempe’s citywide wireless WiFi network and is coordinated with a Trimble GPS system so workers can quickly find an asset and perform tasks with greater efficiency, saving time and increasing productivity. It also allows workers to verify and add information in the field electronically, avoid data errors and duplication and provide rapid updates, without paper, to city line-of-business computer systems. This speeds response times and reduces potential service backlogs.

Alan Tanana, City of Tempe Business Analyst, believes that “GeoResults Mobile will greatly enhance current water, sewer and storm Operational and Maintenance activities by providing field workers with accurate information necessary to perform their job functions. The results will bring improved customer satisfaction and significant savings in manpower and equipment costs.”

Elizabeth Marshall, President of Marshall adds, “GeoResults Mobile is an exciting new product that makes work processes easier for users. It‘s faster to locate assets in the field, reduces backlogs and data entry errors, and automatically returns actionable data to a system for better managerial decision making. GeoResults Mobile quickly pays for itself and enables agencies to deliver better service at lower cost to their constituents.”
