Salt Lake City, UT – A field of outstanding leaders that included Brian Haslam, president and CEO of Cityworks, were honored June 6, 2015 at EY’s Utah Regional Entrepreneur of the Year gala at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year recognizes the men and women who not only create and build market-leading businesses, but also raise the standard of excellence, transform the face of their industry, and create jobs that contribute to the vibrancy of communities. Among 180 nominations, Haslam was a finalist in the technology category.

With the vision of combining the capabilities of GIS with the business logic of asset management, licensing, and permitting, Haslam transitioned the small services company he founded in 1986 into an industry-leading technology business. The company introduced Cityworks, the first GIS-centric work management application, achieving positive, double-digit annual growth for nearly 20 years. Haslam leads a team of 100 people located among the company’s Sandy, Utah, headquarters and at regional offices in Dallas, Texas, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Cityworks is used by tens of thousands of people every day at more than 600 public agencies worldwide, improving operational efficiencies, enhancing customer service, and optimizing taxpayer dollars.

“It was truly an honor for me to be considered among such esteemed business leaders in the region,” said Brian Haslam, president and CEO of Cityworks. “Knowing firsthand the level of effort and dedication required to turn an idea into a viable business, my hat’s off to the team at Health Catalyst and the other 2015 Utah award winners. Of course, the credit for our success goes to the efforts and dedication of the entire Cityworks community—our customers, our partners, and our staff.”

Cityworks congratulates EY’s Regional Entrepreneurs of the Year Dan Burton, Tom Burton, and Steven Barlow, respectively the president and CEO and senior vice presidents and co-founders of Utah-based Health Catalyst. The trio of healthcare veterans applied their data warehousing and quality improvement experience to unify the vast amount of medical data, with near real-time access to a single source of truth.
