—Continental Mapping Consultants is pleased to announce the addition of low-flying helicopter LiDAR acquisition as a new solution line. Using a Trimble Harrier LiDAR System Continental Mapping provides a one-stop-shop for project planning, imagery and LiDAR acquisition, data processing, and geospatial product creation to clients who require low altitude, high accuracy infrastructure mapping. In conjunction with METRO Geospatial, Continental Mapping can now offer an unparalleled depth of knowledge and expertise to the aerial survey market, as well as to other markets requiring high accuracy mapping solutions.

Continental Mapping has been using low-flying helicopter acquisition for very high accuracy LiDAR projects for many years and is eager to now offer this method as an in-house capability. The highly regarded Trimble Harrier System (collecting LiDAR and digital imagery) is installed on highly portable helicopters that can transported throughout the United States via flat-bed truck, significantly reducing mobilization costs. From there, our team will calibrate and check all equipment, establish needed ground control, collect, process, and deliver a high quality LiDAR data product meeting all standards and specifications established for each project by the client.

“The addition of helicopter-based imagery and LiDAR acquisition continues our expansion of solutions to provide multi-sensor, multi-platform capability to our clients,” said President Dave Hart. “This capability, combined with our fixed wing platform experience rounds out our offering of high accuracy imagery and LiDAR acquisition for infrastructure mapping.” Jim Sease, COO of METRO Geospatial added, “We are very pleased to have entered into this agreement with Continental Mapping, as it firmly aligns with our strategy to work with industry leaders to provide reliable, high accuracy solutions to clients with demanding needs.”

Our team brings over 40 years of survey and mapping experience to each project, with a deep understanding of engineering needs. In addition, we bring collective experience deploying hybridized solutions of mobile, terrestrial, and airborne LiDAR and imagery. This unparalleled experience positions us well to provide counsel to our clients as to data collection options, sensor choices, and approaches for addressing both budget and technical requirements.
