Dewberry’s Jerri Daniels Promoted to Senior Associate
National programs expert promoted in firm’s New Orleans, Louisiana, office
Fairfax, VA—March 30, 2017
Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Jerri Daniels, CFM, has been promoted to senior associate in the firm’s New Orleans, Louisiana, office.
Daniels, who has more than 16 years of experience, manages flood risk projects for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the state of Louisiana, and other local communities in the Gulf Coast region. Her extensive experience includes serving as a project coordinator for the flood insurance rate map update for the greater New Orleans area, organizing major outreach initiatives for FEMA Region VI, and serving as the client and contract manager for the recently awarded Cooperating Technical Partnership between the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) and FEMA. This three-year, $5 million contract allows LADOTD to manage flood risk identification updates throughout the state to enhance and encourage resiliency and mitigation planning efforts.
Upon completion of the post-Katrina levees, pump stations, and flood gate construction projects surrounding New Orleans, Daniels led a collaborative effort among FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, levee authorities, local and state governments, and multiple contractors to gather critical data, which was used to identify potential flood risks of interior drainage systems. Most recently, she was instrumental in Dewberry’s efforts to supply flood depth grids to FEMA in response to the August 2016 floods in southern Louisiana. Daniels worked for several weeks as a field inspector in the fall of 2016, preparing FEMA documentation and assessing the extent of flood damage.
Daniels earned her master’s degree in geography from the University of Alabama and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Auburn University at Montgomery. She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Association of State Floodplain Managers, Louisiana Floodplain Management Association, Oklahoma Floodplain Management Association, and the Texas Floodplain Management Association. She also serves on the board of Gravity Drainage District 7 in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, where she lives.
