LONGMONT, CO--(Marketwire - Oct 30, 2012) - DigitalGlobe (NYSEDGI), a leading global provider of high-resolution earth imagery solutions, today announced it signed its sixth Direct Access Program (DAP) customer to a multi-year contract. For security reasons, the name and location of this customer are not disclosed.

DigitalGlobe's DAP establishes trusted partnerships with select U.S. government-approved defense, intelligence and commercial customers to provide priority access to DigitalGlobe's constellation of high-resolution earth observation satellites. Pending government licensing, DigitalGlobe and partner MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSXMDA) will install equipment on the customer's premises that allows them to send high-priority collection requirement requests directly to DigitalGlobe. Once the imagery is collected by one of the WorldView satellites, the customer can then directly receive the imagery at their own ground station while the satellite is in their communication cone allowing instantaneous, secure delivery of the images they requested. DAP gives customers the ability to integrate DigitalGlobe satellites with their existing resources without the cost associated with direct satellite ownership.

"This is simply the fastest, most secure way for these select customers to monitor very large areas of interest and make decisions using the most up-to-date information available," said Jeff Kerridge, DigitalGlobe senior vice president Defense & Intelligence. "Because of the extraordinary value DAP provides to customers, it continues to be a growth area and a key contributor to our overall effort to diversify our revenue base."
