March 31, 2010 -- Dayton Ohio -- TDC Group has a new release of the free GIS on BlackBerry, Freeance View software available the first part of April. Freeance View is a no cost server side and device side software that allows organizations to push their ArcGIS Server maps to unlimited number of BlackBerry smartphones.

The new release of Freeance View contains these enhancements:

ArcGIS Server online access - Now system administrators of Freeance View can plug into ESRI ArcGIS Server online data sets.

Map markup for search results - In addition to the list of search results, Freeance View identifies the same features visually on the map with customized markup.

Zoom to search results - Freeance View allows end users to easily zoom to a map showing all features in a search results list.

Auto-Cursor panning - Moving around the map is made easier by map panning with the BlackBerry trackwheel cursor.

GPS location map display - Current GPS location is now displayed graphically on the map.

GPS map chasing – Map display will automatically follow GPS location allowing the map view to chase the user’s location.

Map screen transitions - Map zooming and panning is greatly enhanced with on device map screen caching.

Since its release in February, Freeance View software has been downloaded by hundreds of organizations for free. Some organizations using Freeance View for GIS on BlackBerry included a water/wastewater utility in Germany, public safety group in Scotland, electric utility in New York City, and a local county government in Georgia for citizens’ public access of GIS maps on BlackBerry.
