Already for the second time, freelancermap was voted as the second most popular project portal for freelancers and self-employed workers in the German IT-market. SOLCOM, one of the leading service providers for the manning of projects with IT specialists and engineers, has recently published a study on freelancers and the project market in Germany.

Next to questions about the workload of the interviewed freelancers and their future plans for the upcoming year, the company asked the participants about their favored portals for project acquisition. After the German business network giant Xing, freelancermap was voted as the second most important project platform for freelancers (31,3%), followed by freelance (29.4%), LinkedIn (25,8%) and some further German project portals.

Within the survey, SOLCOM also discovered that project portals and business networks like freelancermap, LinkedIn and Co. are still the most common sources for freelancers to acquire projects (77,6%). Additionally the interviewed freelancers explained to acquire projects through recommendations (74,2%), recruitment consultants (71,6%), own websites or blogs (14,7%), by participating in conferences and trade fairs (10,2%), through advertisements (2,6%), cold calls (1,5%) or publications (1,1%).

The SOLCOM study was conducted in September 2013. 469 freelancers and self-employed workers took part in the survey. You can review and download the complete survey in German language here: http://www.solcom.de/downloads/SOLCOM_marktstudie_der_weg_in_die_freiberuflichkeit_web.pdf.
