GeoShot Technologies developed custom workflow to produce hydro-flattened LiDAR DEM

Sharing is Caring

Hydro-flattening is the procedure of making a LiDAR-derived DEM in which water surfaces show up / act as they would in conventional topographic DEMs made from photogrammetric computerized terrain models (DTMs). A hydro-flattened DEM is a topographic DEM that must not be mistaken with hydro-enforced DEMs, which contains hydrologic surfaces. GeoShot first digitizes hydrology features and edge of water breaklines using point cloud and ortho images in a 3D dataset. Then the tool can be RUN to make the water surface flat which is very helpful in saving time if done manually. This is very helpful for flood analysis.
