Douglas S. Elliott, former president of Pennsylvania Operations at FirstEnergy, to join board

AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 6, 2013 – GeoSpatial Innovations, Inc. (GSI) announced today that Douglas S. Elliott, former president of Pennsylvania Operations at FirstEnergy, was appointed to the company’s advisory board, returning the board’s size to four members.

“Doug has extraordinary utility and business expertise, and we are excited to have him join our advisory board,” said Carl Livingood, President of GSI.

Elliott was responsible for FirstEnergy's Pennsylvania operating companies: Metropolitan Edison, Pennsylvania Electric, West Penn Power, and Pennsylvania Power. Together, these companies serve approximately 2.1 million customers within 31,000 square miles. Since 1977, Elliot has held numerous positions within the company prior to his promotion to president in 2005, including senior vice president of customer service and senior vice president of retail operations.

“Doug brings a wealth of industry experience, as well as the insights that come from holding several leadership positions at a successful large electric utility. He will be a great addition to our board,” said Michael Hamsa, GSI Chief Technology Officer.

“I am honored to join the advisory board and work with this exceptional team,” Elliott said. “I look forward to contributing to the growth of GSI.”

Elliott currently serves on the board of the Clarion University Foundation and is a past board member and executive board member of the PA Chamber of Commerce, Team PA Foundation and PA Business Council.  He was also past chairman of the Marketing Executive Committee (MEC) and the EEI Customer and Energy Services Executive Committee.  Elliott was named the YWCA Man of the Year for Youngstown, Ohio in 1996 and received the SME of Akron 2001 Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award.

He received a bachelor of business administration from Clarion University. He also attended Pennsylvania State University and completed its Executive Program and the Edison Electric Institute’s (EEI) Senior Middle Management Program.
