Greene County New York Completes GeoLynx Server Implementation

St. Cloud, MN: Greene County recently worked with GeoComm to implement GeoLynx Server, a web-based tactical 9-1-1 mapping system, in their 9-1-1 call center. Greene County implemented GeoLynx Server in order to combine their detailed geographic information system (GIS) maps with real-time emergency caller locations.

GeoLynx Server, an Esri ArcGIS for Server call mapping system, helps the 9-1-1 call takers in Greene County respond, connect, track, and discover additional location information about emergency incidents that take place in the 620 square mile county. It allows 9-1-1 call takers to more accurately locate cellular calls and share information faster with emergency response agencies. For instance, during one recent 9-1-1 call a hiker was injured on one of Greene County’s state hiking trails and the dispatcher was able to easily and efficiently direct the emergency responders to the closest parking area along the trail.

“The GeoComm solution has been worth its weight in gold,” said Randy Ormerod, Deputy Director of Greene County Emergency Services. “We’ve improved response by utilizing aerial imaging and exact map coordinates, and improved accuracy when directing the first responder to the location of the emergency. In addition, since the New York State Police uses the same product, we’ve also enhanced inter-agency coordination during the course of an emergency.”

Greene County’s 9-1-1 center provides Fire, Police, and EMS communication services to 27 fire departments, 14 EMS agencies, 9 police agencies, and 2 county specialized teams. In addition, the 9-1-1 center can also communicate and provide services for several city, state, and federal agencies.
