Hexagon Geospatial Partners with Skybox Imaging

Imagery Processing Available Through Next-Gen Constellation of High-Resolution Microsatellites

June 05, 2014, Norcross, GA - Hexagon Geospatial announces that it has partnered with Skybox Imaging to provide imagery and data processing through ERDAS IMAGINE 2014 to support Skybox Imaging’s constellation of earth imaging satellites.

Through the agreement, users will be able to easily process and analyze images collected with SkySat-1, the first commercial earth observation microsatellite from Skybox Imaging that launched in November 2013. The company is producing and launching a series of microsatellites that deliver high-resolution imagery and video for commercial companies that need to monitor ongoing change detection. Skybox Imaging is planning on launching a constellation of 24 satellites that will provide sub-meter imagery and full-motion video.

ERDAS IMAGINE 2014 added support for SkySat-1. Users can refine the georeferencing using either a rigorous sensor model or a Rational Polynomial co-efficients (RPC) model. ERDAS IMAGINE then provides a host of analytics to get the most out of your Skybox imagery.

“Skybox Imaging is leading a new earth observation revolution by developing and launching these microsatellites,” said Mladen Stojic, President of Hexagon Geospatial. “From agriculture to utilities and beyond, Skybox Imaging is changing the way that organizations can monitor change detection, and with our integrated solutions, collected imagery will be more actionable for enhanced decision-making.”

“We’re excited to be partnering with Hexagon Geospatial to make our imagery products accessible and easy to use,” said Matt Wood, Skybox’s Senior Director, Enterprise Sales. “ERDAS IMAGINE allows users to quickly and efficiently derive information from Skybox data to make more informed decisions.”

ERDAS IMAGINE is the world’s leading geospatial data authoring system, incorporating geospatial image processing and analysis, remote sensing, and GIS capabilities into a single powerful, convenient package. The software enables users to easily create value-added products such as 2D and 3D images, 3D flythrough movies, and cartographic-quality map compositions from geospatial data.
