Lansing, MI, August 27, 2009. IDV Solutions today announced that Visual Fusion, the SharePoint-based geospatial mashup platform, is now available for demonstration on BRIDGE, a forum for Intelligence Community members to connect with Web 2.0 expertise outside their community.

BRIDGE empowers analysts in a manner consistent with policy regarding analytic outreach, and it helps in identifying—and streamlines transitioning to—game-changing technologies to support analytic transformation. Visual Fusion is one of these technologies, enabling rapid mashup creation, data integration, and data visualization using tools like Microsoft SharePoint, Silverlight, SQL Server, and Bing Maps. The interactive, visual applications created with Visual Fusion are used as common operational pictures, interactive maps, or dashboards for greater situational awareness and geospatial intelligence.

"Visual Fusion is a game-changing technology for enhancing situational awareness by leveraging geospatial data in text," commented Dan Doney, ODNI BRIDGE Program Lead. “Its intuitive, rich presentation enabled me to sift interactively through thousands of open source documents to find content on mission topics for a specific region of interest in minutes, without any training. I also set up and followed live data feeds enabling me to keep abreast of developments. With Visual Fusion's mashup framework, we should see many new capabilities emerge as users combine its power with other technologies and data in BRIDGE.”

The Visual Fusion BRIDGE demo allows the user to control and interact with several data feeds coming from Data.gov, the census bureau, and Microsoft’s Open Government Data Initiative. Additionally, users can augment the collection of data feeds with any combination of ad hoc web feeds (KML/KMZ, ATOM, GeoRSS, or WMS), as well as Wikipedia and MapPoint search results. All of this content is dynamically presented in a Silverlight interface, with custom navigation controls and tools for a world-class user experience. Visual Fusion can be accessed on BRIDGE at visualfusion.bridge-ic.net/.

“Being a part of BRIDGE is a tremendous honor for us,” commented Ian Clemens, Chief Technology Officer for IDV Solutions. “The goal of empowering the Intelligence Community with disruptive technologies is right in line with the capabilities of our Visual Fusion mashup software. We are excited about how the demonstration application is received by the community and about learning how we can better serve their needs with Visual Fusion.”
