Interactive Tactical Group Announces Completion of 3D Mobile Mapping Project of Washington DC

Friday, December 10th 2010

Camera Equipped Earthmine Vehicle Collects Street-Level 3D Imagery of Washington, DC Streets

Boston, MA -- December 8, 2010 -- Interactive Tactical Group, Inc, a visual intelligence company, announced today that it has completed street-level photographic data collection of 500 km of Washington DC area roads including Capitol landmarks and the National Mall. The high resolution 360=BA panoramic imagery is intended for use by federal, state and local agencies as well as Homeland Security and the US Military.

The mobile data collection was completed in conjunction with Interactive Tactical Group partner, earthmine .  Earthmine uses technology licensed from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and deployed on the Mars exploration rovers. Each pixel in the 360 BA panoramas has associated 3D data and this data can be extracted and fused with other data for geospatial and visualization applications.

Cameras atop the moving earthmine vehicle captured images every ten meters and the resulting images allow viewers to zoom in/out, as well as measure and tag objects such as utility poles, traffic lights, and other assets. The processed data set will be available to interested agencies and companies late December 2010. A full preview of the data will be exhibited during the ESRI Federal Users Conference, Booth #621 in Washington DC, 19-21 January 2011.
