18 September 2012: London Mapping Festival is hosting a charity dinner and auction to help raise funds for MapAction, an international charity providing mapping for disaster relief and humanitarian intervention that has Prince Harry as one of its patrons. The elegant black tie dinner will take place at the stunning East Wintergarden in the heart of Canary Wharf, London, on Thursday 10 January 2013, with the venue generously donated by Canary Wharf Group plc. This event marks the end of the London Mapping Festival’s 18 month duration and a chance for the mapping industry to show its support for the fantastic work of MapAction, the Festival’s chosen charity. Seppe Cassettari, Chair of LMF, comments, “We want every company in the geospatial community to join us – host a table, invite partners, friends and clients and help us to raise our ambitious target of £50,000 for MapAction. Special guests, speakers and auction items will be announced nearer the time to add that extra sparkle to what promises to be a glittering occasion; a unique opportunity to get together one last time under the LMF banner”. Nigel Woof, MapAction’s chief executive says: “We would like to thank The London Mapping Festival for involving MapAction throughout this year in the excellent conferences and exhibitions, and we are honoured to be chosen as the Festival’s charity. This recognises the humanitarian motives, commitment and drive of MapAction’s very special volunteers whose selfless efforts help get aid to where it’s needed most.” Tickets are available online at www.londonmappingfestival.org/charitydinner or by calling 01223 880077. Tables of 12 are available or tickets can be purchased individually or in small groups for £90 per seat. Tickets include; drinks reception, three course silver service dinner with accompanying wine, speeches and an auction from which proceeds will go to MapAction.
