- Magellan® announced today the availability of the latest version of its RoadMate App, 2.2 on the Apple App Store. New features include the most current maps available, red light camera and fixed speed camera alerts, and the Junction View feature to guide users through complicated freeway interchanges. Optional features available for purchase include real-time safety alerts and additional voice options. The update is available for both USA and USA/Canada apps.

Key features of the new Magellan RoadMate App 2.2 are:

•  The most up-to-date maps available, ensuring all RoadMate users can drive confidently knowing that they have the most accurate routes available.

•  The new Junction View with highway sign feature presents a photo-realistic rendering of freeway interchanges, showing the correct lane a driver needs to be in to safely and successfully make the transition.

• Red light and fixed speed camera alerts to help avoid tickets – included in the update at no additional cost. Real time premium safety alerts for school zones, railroad crossings, speed bumps, and dangerous curves and intersections, speed traps and live traffic camera feeds – available with in-app purchase.

•  Drivers who want versatility in their GPS guidance voice will enjoy the three new voice options to choose from for turn-by-turn guidance – available with in-app purchase. Additional voices will be added in later versions – available with in-app purchase.

The Magellan 2.2 RoadMate App is compatible with iPhone 4S, 4 or 3GS, with iOS 4.2 or later. It is also compatible with third or fourth generation iPod Touch with use of the Magellan Premium Car Kit that is sold separately.

In anticipation of the upcoming iOS 5 release from Apple, Magellan plans to release an update to the RoadMate App to ensure iOS 5 compatibility.

The app is available from the Apple App Store at $39.99 for the USA version, and $49.99 for the USA/Canada version.
