The Massachusetts Orthoimagery Consortium (MassOrtho) invites your municipality or organization to participate in the 2014 orthoimagery acquisition project. MassOrtho is a group of local government volunteers collaborating to create a single procurement to acquire imagery suitable for use in GIS mapping applications. The purpose of this effort is:
o To lower the cost of orthoimagery acquisition for participating communities vs. procuring individually
o To provide a single procurement and project management expertise at the regional level
o To provide a basemap of regional orthoimagery that is accessible to various local, state, regional, and federal agencies
o To provide a predictable and sustainable model for recurring imagery procurement
The imagery will allow for the identification of items on the ground such as hydrants and manholes and is the ideal specification for use at the local government level. Collaboratively, we have taken special care to work with local, state, and federal entities to develop this procurement model and the imagery specifications.
