Platform Provides Real-time Fleet Data and Addresses Workforce Issues

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that by 2014 there will be a 16 percent labor shortage in the electrical industry. In order to minimize the impact to the industry, NexTraq, the value leader of GPS fleet tracking and vehicle management solutions, offers fleet tracking capabilities and benefits to the electrical industry. By implementing the NexTraq™ Fleet Tracking platform into operations, electrical service companies can provide more accurate arrival times, lower fuel costs, create productive drivers and lower insurance premiums.

“The workforce predictions related to the electrical industry are serious. Electricians are an important factor in the growth of the economy and it’s imperative to empower current employees and invest in employee productivity,” explains Mike Scarbrough, CEO of NexTraq. “With that said, NexTraq’s Fleet Tracking platform enables companies to take control of workforce concerns through real-time fleet data, allowing dispatchers to increase fleet productivity through route optimization.”

Fleet Dispatch, an application within NexTraq’s platform, leverages the in-vehicle Garmin® device, providing NexTraq customers with added productivity and profitability through two-way messages, instant route creation and improved driver efficiency. Dispatchers can monitor job start time, driver speed and aggressive, unsafe driving as well as unauthorized vehicle usage. In addition, the application allows dispatchers to extend the technology to the field, enabling drivers to do any of the following:

  •     Follow voice-guided directions
  •     Create instant routes to new service requests
  •     Change routes to avoid traffic
  •     Take the most direct route
  •     Message dispatchers about job status
  •     Notify dispatchers when a destination is reached

Implementing the fleet tracking platform into operations also lowers insurance costs. In fact, because one NexTraq customer could monitor its vehicles and driver behavior, the company was able to switch insurance providers. The customer also received a substantial discount, so much so that the NexTraq platform will pay for itself three times over within the first year of execution.
