Optech Incorporated | Vaughan, Ontario

Toronto, Canada, February 18, 2014 — Optech, the world leader in the development, manufacture and support of high-accuracy lidar 3D survey systems and productivity-enhancing workflow software, is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting at the 2014 Annual Meeting and Exhibit of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME). Held on February 23-26 in Salt Lake City, UT, the event is a time for 5000+ professionals in the minerals industry to come together from around the world and hone their professional knowledge, learn the latest techniques, network with others, and get a look at the latest technology offerings.

Optech’s display will include the CMS Cavity Monitoring System, the industry’s go-to method for fast, accurate, 3D surveying in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas. Developed specifically for underground mining environments, Optech CMS meets the needs of mine operators with its compact and rugged design, sealed optics and specialized accessories.

The Optech ILRIS Terrestrial Laser Scanner will be on hand as well to show that mine operators do not need to sacrifice accuracy even when surveying from the extreme ranges required in open-pit mines. On the software side, attendees will get to see how the recent introduction of the Optech ILRIS Scan software suite is powering up their workflow efficiency by consolidating sensor operation, data collection, post-processing and point-cloud visualization within a single, easy-to-use program.

Visitors interested in predicting landslides by integrating the ILRIS into their large mine infrastructure can also learn about the newly released Gexcel Open Pit Mine Monitoring System (OPMMS). Using Optech’s flexible API, OPMMS automates the ILRIS to survey on a user-defined schedule, analyzes the data for hazardous or significant changes, and connects to the mine intranet to send alerts about potential landslides. Combined with its web interface remote control and download capabilities, OPMMS enables operators to precisely monitor their mine 24/7 from the safety and convenience of the mine office.

Attendees can visit Optech at Booth 707 to get more information about these advances and find out how Optech products can help them fulfill their specific needs.
