Over the River and Through the Woods – Glympse Helps You Make it to Grandma’s House Safely

Sharing is Caring

Busy roads and bad weather can impact when the turkey hits the table, use Glympse to let your loved ones know exactly when you will arrive at their doorstep

– Gas prices and are down this year, and the American Automobile Association (AAA) estimates nearly 50 million Americans will journey more than 50 miles this Thanksgiving, the most expected since 2007. These crowds, combined with predicted rain and snow across the West and Midwest, delays are all but inevitable. To avoid the constant “when are you going to get here” phone calls and texts, Glympse, the pioneer in real-time, temporary location sharing makes communicating your whereabouts to loved ones a cinch. The app, available on iOS and Android, allows anyone to share their location in real-time, for just a few minutes up to four hours. Those on the receiving end simply open the link in a mobile or web browser (no downloads needed!) to see that person’s movements live on a dynamic map, including an estimated time of arrival. Here are a few scenarios where Glympse can come in handy this year:

  • Hit unexpected traffic? Once you send a Glympse, those awaiting your arrival can see not only your location, but your current speed. If you are only managing 5 MPH, they’ll know those sweet potatoes can wait to go into the oven.
  • Flight delayed? Through a partnership with Gogo Inflight Wireless, Glympse users can share their exact location from 30,000’ feet, including exactly when their flight touches down. No more waiting in the overcrowded cell phone lot for hours, when that cheese plate sits abandoned at home.
  • Kids driving you bonkers? No need to answer the “are we there yet” question yet again; hand them your phone so they can track where you are, and your estimated time of arrival. While Glympse can’t keep them from bickering in the back, at least you’ll know how much longer you have to listen to it.
  • Not quite sure how to get there? Glympse can help alert your hosts if you make a wrong turn, by showing them exactly where you are in relation to their home. If you get lost, pull over or have a passenger connect with your host to get you back on track.

Whether running late due to traffic, a snow storm or the pies taking longer than expected, Glympse puts at ease those who may get concerned if their guests are even a few minutes late, providing peace of mind this holiday season.

“Traveling under normal circumstances can be stressful, but when you combine travel with crowds, unpredictable weather, time-sensitive meals and high-maintenance family members, it gets complicated,” said Bryan Trussel, co-founder and CEO of Glympse. “Glympse is the perfect travel companion this Thanksgiving to keep worried family from wondering where you are, and to ensure you don’t miss a single bite of the meal of the year.”
