Overwatch, a strategic business of Textron Systems Advanced Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, introduced today its GeoCatalog Workgroup software, designed to enable users in small teams to easily share and manage geospatial data and databases on a shared local network. Overwatch is demonstrating the software’s capabilities during the GEOINT 2012 Symposium, October 9 – 11, at booth 401.

GeoCatalog Workgroup offers database and file management capabilities to add and remove cataloged data as well as associated files including images, shape files and video. It provides automated ingesting and monitors directories for incoming data. The software also delivers email notifications to its set of users for standing queries of requested information, publishes point feature data to a shared repository, and provides metrics for images received and ingested and other performance areas.

“GeoCatalog Workgroup helps facilitate collaboration within small analyst teams,” explains Overwatch Vice President of Geospatial Solutions Skip Maselli. “For instance, with this software an intelligence cell of 10 users can quickly access, share and manage a large number of geospatial image files. This ensures more timely and effective collaboration, and assists the team in the organization and analysis of important data.”

The new product complements Overwatch’s single-user GeoCatalog Desktop tool, an extension of its RemoteViewTMPro geospatial analysis software, and GeoCatalog Server software, which provides enterprise-level cataloging and geospatial data management to large numbers of users.

Overwatch is preparing GeoCatalog Workgroup software for shipment in November.

More than Mapping: Using GIS for disaster management

The devastation of Hurricane Sandy and the western wildfires in 2012 are sobering reminders that utilities always need to be prepared to respond to large-scale natural disasters.
