Safe Software, Inc. | Vancouver, Canada

- Safe Software, leader in spatial data transformation technology, is pleased to announce its support of Esri's® ArcGIS® for Local Government industry solution. Safe's FME® technology enables users to quickly transform their data to conform to the common information model that the initiative's free "maps and apps" are built around.

Using FME technology, either through FME Workbench or the ArcGIS Data Interoperability Extension, government organizations can transform disparate data formats and models to load into the ArcGIS for Local Government information model, unlocking the capabilities of the maps and applications that have been designed to assist the implementation of an effective GIS for the management of various government functions.

"We are very pleased that the close integration between FME and ArcGIS continues to assist Esri users with their data interoperability needs," says Dale Lutz, Vice-President of Development at Safe Software. "ArcGIS for Local Government provides some very interesting and useful tools and FME technology can help government organizations take full advantage of them."

To further simplify the process, Safe has been working with Esri to design customized workspace templates that load data into the common information model to quickly enable the use of particular ArcGIS for Local Government maps and apps. The FME workspace templates that are currently available through ArcGIS Online enable the deployment of ArcGIS for Election applications, with more to come in the future.

"FME's transformation technology opens up the possibilities of what local government organizations can achieve with the ArcGIS for Local Government solution by allowing them to easily move more of their data into the common information model," says Scott Oppmann, Esri Product Development.

Users can learn more by attending the session entitled "Efficiently Convert Data to Leverage ArcGIS for Local Government" being presented by Steve Grisé of Vertex3 at the upcoming Esri International User Conference in San Diego, CA, from July 23 - 27, where Safe Software will be exhibiting at booth 2400.

Safe Software will also be hosting an upcoming live webinar on August 30 designed to help those wishing to implement ArcGIS for Local Government applications move their data into the common information model. For more information or to register visit www.safe.com/LocGovWebinar.
