Select Analytics, LLC Raising Capital for Web-Based Shale Play Mapping Tool

Select Analytics is a New York based geospatial consulting firm that has been serving the real estate, environmental, and energy industries for over 15 years.

ShaleNavigator, Select Analytics’ web-based mapping software, gives registered users and subscribers information relevant to the leasing and development of North American shale plays. ShaleNavigator currently focuses on shale gas development activity in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, and seeks to expand its successful subscription model to the other eighteen shale plays in North America.

The system contains information on natural gas pipeline infrastructure, corporate land holdings, well permit data, and recent lease offers. This information is shown as layers in an easy to use, but powerful interactive map. ShaleNavigator is updated when changes occur, providing users with nearly a real-time data environment, allowing subscribers to keep on top of the dynamic shale development landscape. Companies and landowners can list their available property within the ShaleNavigator map, view recent well results, see where pipeline infrastructure exists, and see where recent lease offers have been made. To raise the capital required to expand the ShaleNavigator system, Select Analytics has elected to hire Capacity Consulting, Inc., a management consulting firm based in Rock Hill, N.Y. Eric Egeland, the president of Capacity Consulting, believes that ShaleNavigator has found an ideal niche in the rapidly expanding shale gas industry.

“ShaleNavigator should be very appetizing to investors in the shale gas space, be they information services, media, or real estate focused,” says Eric Egeland, President of Capacity Consulting. “The product is amazing; it tracks natural gas permitting, drilling, land leasing, and shows available land all within the context of a web-based, interactive map system. With recent reports on the projected growth of shale gas development and its enormous potential promise for US energy independence, ShaleNavigator is uniquely poised for rapid growth along with the industry as a whole. We compiled actual and projected revenue and expenses to create a valuation for ShaleNavigator and their potential investors.”

ShaleNavigator CEO Edward Camp adds “ShaleNavigator’s interactive map is familiar to a broad, mass market audience, yet is sophisticated and powerful enough to provide solutions to companies with direct stake in the natural gas development, as evidenced by the variety and satisfaction of our subscribers.” “With the right investor we can bring this product and business model to much larger national and international audiences.”

NASA’s IceBridge Mission Contributes to New Map of Antarctica

A new dataset called Bedmap2 gives a clearer picture of Antarctica from the ice surface down to the bedrock below. Bedmap2 is a significant improvement on the previous collection of Antarctic data—known as Bedmap. The product was a result of work led by the British Antarctic Survey, where researchers compiled decades worth of geophysical measurements, such as surface elevation measurements from NASA's Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite, known as...
